Department Summary

The Marketing and Communications Team is responsible for telling the story of the Division of Student Affairs and its departments to external and internal audiences through digital and print assets including social media, videos, ads, articles, brochures, emails, fliers, newsletters, posters, and websites.

Position Overview

This Student Services Assistant role cultivates core competencies in writing, editing, content creation, and audience engagement. This role requires strong communication abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to tailor messaging across diverse platforms and audiences. This role further builds on these foundations by integrating administrative coordination, customer service, and program support, offering a broader scope of professional development and ideally complementing our collaborative work across the division.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma. Completion of required credit hours at UNT for President's Fellows program. Demonstrated academic excellence as defined by UNT Fellows program.

Preferred Qualifications

* Be a currently enrolled undergraduate seeking their first bachelor's degree
* Have earned at least 60 semester credit hours
* Be enrolled at least half-time during fall or spring
* Be in good standing with the UNT Code of Student Conduct
* Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
* Have a minimum cumulative UNT GPA of 2.50

Job Duties



  • Writes and edits content for multiple audiences across various media platforms, including online, print, and broadcast, ensuring consistency and effectiveness in messaging.
  • Creates and schedules social media posts, contributing to the division's digital presence and engagement strategies.
  • Monitors social media channels to identify trends and opportunities for engagement.
  • Writes and edits internal e-newsletters, supporting internal communications and fostering community awareness.
  • Assists in measuring communication effectiveness, learning how to use data to inform and improve content strategies.
  • Supports photo and video editing and contributes to creative ideation for multimedia content.
  • Supports updating and maintaining website content.
