Position Purpose This position is responsible for managing and overseeing the accounting process and the related accounting activities within the Bank. This position will help with research and process improvement within the department while also providing a full range of accounting support services to the Bank and its subsidiaries. Position Responsibilities
- Manages the accounting processes and assists the Assistant Controller and Controller by providing accounting oversight to other departments and companies within the corporate group.
- Assigns, schedules, reviews work of the staff accountants.
- Trains and coaches staff to ensure work deadlines are met and adequate coverage of duties is always provided.
- Provides technical accounting coaching, training and assists direct reports to ensure that financial accounting is in accordance with regulatory requirements and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Has primary responsibility to ensure all bank-wide reconciliations are collected and reviewed at least monthly.
- Provides technical accounting knowledge and oversight necessary to ensure that such general ledger and internal deposit account reconciliations achieve a high level of accuracy to support monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting.
- Manages the daily subledger balancing process within FISERV Prologue to ensure the deposit and loan system stay in agreement with the general ledger.
- Reports, researches and resolves any outages within a timely manner.
- Manages the fixed asset process, ensuring all inputs and disposals are entered into the software timely and accurately.
- Provides assistance with research when outages occur.
- Month end reconciliations as assigned.
- Assists the Assistant Controller and Controller with:
- All month-end processes, accruals and subsidiary general ledger entries, ensuring are completed on time.
- Semi-monthly payroll entries into the general ledger system.
- Provides backup coverage for Prepaids and Accounts Payable Staff, when needed.
- Processing backup withholding, quarterly tax payments and annual personal property tax returns.
Minimum Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
- Minimum 5 years' experience working with general ledger reconciliations, month-end closing and general accounting processes.
- Work involves supervision of staff accountant activities that are specific in their objective and content, combined with comprehensive understanding of these activities' interaction with other units in the organization.
Technical Knowledge and Skills
- Requires advanced Microsoft Excel and intermediate Word knowledge.
- Advanced problem-solving skills are required to find solutions to problems that are technically complex and require collection, interpretation, and analysis of data from diverse sources.
- Must have the ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Ability to perform mathematical and financial calculations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel as needed.
Compensation:
- Base Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000 annually. Final determination of where you are at in the salary range is based on numerous factors such as relevant experience, skill set, education, geographic location, and ability to meet qualifications within the job description.
- Additional Compensation: This role will include a yearly annual target bonus based on individual performance.
