The Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Natural Resources at Rutgers University, part of the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, invites applications for a renewable non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. We are searching for a highly creative and collaborative educator with a broad background in ecology and evolution and a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate
STEM pedagogy, including teaching, mentoring, and advising. The successful candidate will develop courses employing current standards of active learning and inclusive course design to serve our majors as well as to attract, inspire, and retain other undergraduate students in environmental and biological sciences. The position is responsible for teaching up to three courses per semester, including Principles of Biology (119:103) and associated laboratory sections, Introduction to Ecology and Evolution (216:101), and other introductory and advanced courses based on needs within the Department and the expertise and interests of the candidate. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will contribute to student success through academic advising for first-year, upper-class, and transfer students.
The initial appointment will be a renewable 1-year contract. Following successful reappointment, the second renewal will be for a 3-year (or longer) contract.
