Duties and Responsibilities |
The International Business Counselor is responsible for providing technical assistance to SBTDC's small and mid-sized companies to foster regional economic growth through exporting and importing. The International Business Counselor is expected to provide confidential, individualized counseling and technical assistance to a sizable client group throughout western North Carolina.
Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:
- Global Business Management: evaluate export readiness for "new to export" clients, and develop strategies and tactics for exporting
- Global Marketing: identify potential export markets and customers, and locate/evaluate potential export sales representatives
- Supply Chain Management: understand basic logistics including foreign freight forwarders, and research/evaluate supply chain options
- Trade Finance: financial analysis, costing pricing, budgeting and forecasting, and technical assistance with SBA and EXIM finance options
- Networking & Resources Referral: industry networking opportunities through special events, and provide research, publications, and training programs
