Responsibilities

The Program Support Specialist assists in the observations, planning, interventions, and evaluation of care for the patients within the area assignment pursuant to the policies and procedures of PrairieCare. Assists Partial Hospitalization Program Social Workers and Nurses with delegated non-clincal tasks to coordinate care and enhance the functioning of patients.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Ensures safety of patient and staff by constantly monitoring the milieu for potential safety hazards and reports issues appropriately
  • Ensures safety through metal detection and belongings search
  • Effectively uses therapeutic approaches to manage the milieu and to de-escalate escalating patients
  • Creates an environment that provides the best care and the best patient experience
  • Keeps the unit organized by notifying the correct individual when supplies are low and stocks the supplies
  • Sanitizes program utensils, toys and other containers / materials as needed
  • Monitors the unit to ensure tidiness and cleanliness
  • Performs clerical functions as directed
  • Oriented and educated in trauma informed, culturally responsive care (including gender, cultural differences, and age factors) for the assigned unit
  • Provides coverage for skills, goals, and activity groups
  • Makes initial communication/scheduling of staffing meetings with schools upon admission.
  • Coordinates transportation for patients.
  • Completes intakes as designated.
  • Performs non-clinical administrative tasks as delegated by the Social Worker or RN.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree required.
  • 9 months or more of working at PrairieCare as a psychiatric technician.
  • Provides person-centered services through a trauma informed and culturally responsive lens.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Display a professional attitude in all aspects of his/her performance
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products, fax machine and copier machine required
  • Ability to smoothly and rapidly shift between dissimilar tasks
  • Skills necessary to communicate well both verbally and in the EHR
  • Ability to react quickly and calmly as part of a team to handle volatile and potentially emergency situations
  • Ability to make effective decisions while in stressful situations and circumstances
  • After training, be able to manage disruptive and explosive patients.

Pay range for this position is $22 to $28 depending on education and experience.
