Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: Our corporate data division is looking for a Sr Systems and Database Technician who will perform divisional support for networks, servers, personal computers, operational technology and help desk. This is a varied position that includes maintaining our equipment server and personal computer equipment, as well as assisting with internal phone system, VoIP and cell phone support. This role is responsible for all aspects of operational tech support for the business/manufacturing where equipment and data are interfaced with the network or system infrastructure. This position is responsible for ensuring system resources are administered and allocated while adhering to the company policies and procedures.



DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Responsible for working with the business to develop the specifications of the project or task; including details of business rules and needs, overall design, tasks and logical flow.
  • Design, perform and document appropriate tests for the operating system, hardware or software upgrades to ensure error-free deployment into production.
  • Update, migrate or deploy systems to production in a documented and error free manner.
  • Document computer network and communications per company policy and procedures.
  • Maintain various system or network flows and process maps.
  • Develop and maintain operation procedures, recovery procedures and user documentation.
  • Analyze and resolve problems to support the business and IT areas supporting application problem resolution, equipment malfunction or network/communication problems.
  • Schedule and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, security updates, reconfiguration and purchase processing for Corporate IT projects.
  • Train personnel in user departments in any specific procedures necessary to use their assigned equipment.
  • Maintain technology expertise.
  • Assist Information Systems Management with special projects as directed.
  • Provide periodic project updates.
  • Participate in an on-call rotating support schedule during business or non-business hours.


JOB SKILLS & ABILITIES:



  • CCNP, VCP/VCAP, MCSE, or similar level system and/or network certifications preferred.
  • Advanced to Expert / SME level in Server support, PC and workstation support, phone system administration, storage, Windows server administration, VMWare/vCenter/VDI Horizon, Veeam server and Veritas client backup.
  • Advanced to Expert / SME level - solid understanding of foundational concepts required for networking (VLANs, IP subnets, Routing.
  • Proficient to Advanced level in Powershell/multi-tool and type of scripting or coding experience preferred.
  • Cloud computing environment experience preferred.
  • Ability to recognize business needs, analyze requests, recommend solid technical solutions, and lead in delivering the solution.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of clients, team members, managers and subject matter experts (SME).
  • Ability to plan and organize projects as needed.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology preferred; related field certification or equivalent work experience.
  • Four + (4+) years' experience in related field of work.
  • Experience with rapidly changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Previous experience working with projects from conception to completion.
  • Working experience with Virtual Machines (VM), setup and configuration.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows operating systems.
  • Working knowledge of Linux operating systems.
  • Working experience setting up and repairing services (Windows and/or Linux).
  • CCNA, CCNP, CCDA or similar level system and/or network working knowledge of network administration experience, or any networking centric certifications preferred. Working knowledge of IBMi operating system a plus.
  • Experience moving applications and databases between servers.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Able to sit for prolonged periods working at a computer.
  • Ability to travel domestically as needed (occasional).
  • Must be able to physically move, lift and install personal computers, servers and peripherals (up to 50lbs) when necessary.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder, use a lift.
