Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned) This position is available in either Pasadena, TX or the Bay Area, CA. This position is responsible for the implementation of major programs to include: predictive maintenance program, water treatment program, transformer reliability program, incident investigation program, training program, and other similar major programs. For example, the PdM program includes day to day management of the test and maintenance fleet services contractor(s), interpretation of the test results, and recommendations to Calpine Management and Calpine Engineering of critical items that are being monitored. Coordinates and monitors the scheduling, pricing, and technical performance of company programs. Responsibilities also include aiding in the negotiation of contracts and contractual changes and coordinating preparations of proposals, plans, specifications, and financial conditions of contracts. The programs managed by the Program Manager are to provide consistent implementation of the program throughout Calpine's Fleet, improving operational reliability and efficiency. Ensures adherence to master plans and schedules develops solutions to program problems and ensures programs are consistently delivered and maintained. Provides technical guidance to other departments within Calpine. Provide technical leadership to both internal and external organizations and entities. Specialized Job Information Calpine's Covered Piping System (CPS) Program is a compliance program required by various states, ASME Power Piping Code and corporate insurance carriers. This position is responsible for the technical support and management of the CPS Program. The CPS Program Manager will manage power piping professional contractors hired by Calpine to assist with the assessment of the piping systems. The CPS Program Manager shall ensure the program is implemented consistently through Calpine's fleet. Ensures adherence to master plans and schedules develops solutions to program problems and ensures programs are consistently delivered and maintained. Program manager will need to mentor and train the fleet CPS coordinators, Plant Managers and Regional Vice Presidents. Provide technical guidance to other departments within Calpine. Provide technical leadership to both internal and external organizations and entities.
- Provides Calpine's Operating Fleet technical support on the inspection, repairs and replacement of piping hangers and pipe supports.
- Conducts high energy piping condition assessments per ASME B31.1, develops a list of recommendations and supports the plants in implementing the recommendations. Coordinate all activities for the Covered Piping Systems (CPS) Program
- Provides technical guidance on incident investigations. Develops technical bulletins and ensures the best practices and lessons learned are identified and shared across Calpine's fleet.
- Design review of piping system repairs, piping stress submittals, pipe support repairs and or replacements.
- Develop work scope packages for small to medium sized piping projects
- Develop and maintain CPS Program annual budget.
- Compile Request for Quotation (RFQ) for CPS activities. Including but not limited to writing scopes of work, completing bidder quotation reviews and recommendations, leading job bid walks and providing onsite management services for CPS projects.
- Interface with other engineering departments, operating power plants staff, third party engineering service providers and various mechanical contractors.
- Review engineering standards and revise as needed.
- Site visits as required, capable of working in varying weather conditions and at elevated heights.
- Travel up to 50%.
- On site project management of CPS projects.
- Other duties as assigned by Mechanical Service Director.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering or chemical field of study or equivalent education and experience, preferred a BS in Mechanical Engineering, or Structural/Civil Engineering, from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program. In-depth experience across knowledge areas and multiple functions including project management;
- Typically requires 10+ years in area of specialization. Preferred a minimum of 10 years' experience with gas-fired combined cycle power plants with emphasis on steam and boiler feed water piping systems.
- Able to make decisions on complex issues regarding project components and advance tasks.
- Leads the researches for innovations from external sources, and identifies opportunities to develop new processes, tools, services and techniques within the function.
- A thorough knowledge of regulation, codes and standards and a good understanding of power plant (simple and combined cycle) practices applicable to high energy piping systems.
- Extensive knowledge of ASME B31.1, various ASME codes related to pipe, fitting, valves and ASME B&PV Section III piping codes.
- Experience with industry piping design practices, ability to read and interpret drawings P & ID's, piping isometrics, pipe support drawings, general arrangements, structural steel, foundations, etc.
- Strong knowledge of gas fired combined cycle power plants with emphasis on steam and boiler feed water piping systems.
- Ability to walk down piping systems; including systems with limited access which may only be viewed via a man lift or through 100% tie-off.
- Pipe Stress Analysis experience with power plants and with CAESAR or equivalent stress analysis software.
- CAD experience creating and or revising drawings in programs such as AutoCAD or Micro Station.
- Proficient with Microsoft 365 products
- Effective written and oral communication skills to convey information.
