Pantheon Data (a Kenific Holding company) is a private, small business based in the Washington, DC, area. Pantheon Data was founded in 2011, initially providing acquisition and supply chain management services to the US Coast Guard. Our service offerings have grown in the past ten years, including infrastructure resiliency, contact center operations, information technology, software engineering, program management, strategic communications, engineering, and cybersecurity. We have also grown our customer base to include commercial clients. The company has used this experience to expand our service offerings to other agencies within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Department of Defense (DoD), and other Federal Civilian Agencies.

Position Overview

Pantheon Data is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our core product team. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in Optical Character Recognition (OCR), Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLMs), and other deep learning models to solve complex problems in various domains. This candidate will have experience combining these tools to lead a solution focused on Intelligent Document Processing (IDP). A successful candidate should be able to demonstrate technical proficiency with these mentioned Machine Learning tools and have a proven track record engineering software solutions to process and analyze unstructured data sets. He/she will be able to communicate clearly and effectively with engineers as well as less technical team members (e.g., project managers, customers, executive teams).

Responsibilities



  • Develop and deploy AI models and algorithms on AWS or Azure platforms to deliver scalable and reliable AI solutions.
  • Inform product decisions by leveraging technical knowledge of intelligent data processing & Generative AI solution architectures and best practices.
  • Design, build, and optimize AI pipelines, data ingestion, preprocessing, model training, and deployment workflows on cloud platforms to support Pantheon Data's product.
  • Conduct research and stay up to date with the latest AI technologies, frameworks, and tools offered by Azure and AWS.
  • Evaluate and recommend the most suitable AI services based on requirements and constraints - Implement and optimize distributed computing and parallel processing techniques to handle large-scale datasets with high-performing AI models.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Team Leads, Technical Product Leads, and team members to design and develop solutions that exceed stakeholder expectations.
  • Ensure security, privacy, and compliance of AI solutions by following best practices and cloud platform guidelines.


Required Skills and Experience



  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 6+ years professional, hands-on experience in an AI/ML Engineering role.
  • Must be technically proficient in Intelligent Document Processing (including OCR/NLP algorithms), Generative AI and Deep Learning algorithms, and associated technologies, programming languages, and system architectures.
  • Experience in cloud infrastructure development with AWS and Azure.
  • Experience in one or more of the ML model development libraries: TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, etc.
  • Well-rounded and willing to learn and contribute meaningfully across all technical areas of our product.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact clearly and succinctly in written and oral presentations.
  • Strong experience with NoSQL, Python, and basic Linux.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and organized.
  • Demonstrated experience with ML Flow and Databricks.
  • Ability to work effectively remotely in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and produce quality work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite software including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.


Preferred Skills and Experience



  • AWS (Amazon Web Services) and/or Microsoft Azure. Certification(s) a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Agile Scrum methodology with JIRA/Confluence experience or similar
  • Demonstrated experience with ML Flow and Databricks.
  • Experience with Terraform and Docker is a plus.
  • SQL relational and non-relational databases such as MongoDB or DynamoDB.
  • Experience in Docker, CI/CD automation is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior developers.
  • Experience with unit testing/integration testing is a plus.
  • Experience developing code within a government-hosted environment.


Clearance Requirements

U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Work Location: United States - Remote

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $140,000 - $180,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
