This is a Hybrid position (3-4 days onsite/week) in Hillsboro, OR. The position will start as a 2 month engagement (November and December) with anticipation of extension on a quarterly basis up to a maximum of 18 months.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated engineer to join a dedicated team focused on applying advanced principles of computer science and engineering to the design, development, support, and maintenance of core system components. You will be instrumental in developing low-level software that brings hardware to life, directly influencing the reliability and efficiency of sophisticated systems.

Key Contributions & Responsibilities



  • Develop, enhance, and maintain core system components to support new hardware features, improve performance, and ensure system reliability.
  • Design, implement, and debug device interfaces for a range of hardware, ensuring seamless integration with the operating system.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system and interface issues, including performance bottlenecks, hardware compatibility problems, and system crashes.
  • Support production systems by monitoring core component and interface health, responding to incidents, and implementing fixes as needed.

Qualifications



  • 5-7 years of professional experience in software development.
  • Strong experience in operating system kernel development and device driver programming using C and C++.
  • Deep understanding of operating system internals, hardware-software interaction, and low-level debugging techniques.
  • Proficiency with kernel build systems, version control systems (e.g., Git), and open-source development workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex system issues, including system failures and hardware faults.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical documentation and collaborative teamwork.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment and ongoing support.
