The Department of Transportation Engineering District 2 is excited to announce an opening for a permanent, full-time Engineering Technician position. This role includes participation in a comprehensive one-year trainee program designed to immerse you in various facets of engineering through hands-on learning experiences. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This one-year trainee program focuses on responsibilities related to highway design. You will assist in the creation of highway plans derived from field survey data, engaging in drafting and detailing tasks that span from initial sketches to comprehensive final working plans. The program includes involvement in the preparation of plans for simpler highway projects, such as resurfacing, restoration, rehabilitation, lane widening, and improvements to safety and intersections. You will also support basic calculations, contributing to the development of grade lines and the computation of gradients, as well as assisting in the estimation of earthwork and material quantities. Additionally, you will help plot roadway and channel templates on cross-sectional views. The program culminates in the preparation of detailed plans for highway construction, which encompasses right-of-way maps, centerline drawings, profiles, topographical layouts, cross sections, drainage systems, and final construction documentation. - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- An associate degree in surveying, drafting, designing, civil, or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
