Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Estate & Probate Administration Manager, the Fiduciary Tax Accountant works closely with members of the Wealth Management Group to provide high level client service to family office clients. The Fiduciary Tax Accountant prepares estate tax returns, gift tax returns, and fiduciary income tax returns for Firm clients.

Job Functions:

  • Prepares, reviews and processes estate tax, fiduciary income tax, and gift tax returns (forms 706, 8971, 1041 and 709 and related state filings) for the Wealth Management Group clients.
  • Analyze trust documents and estate plans to determine tax implications and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, advisors, and clients to develop tax-efficient strategies for wealth transfer and estate planning.
  • Maintain accurate records of trust and estate transactions, distributions, and tax filings.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations affecting fiduciary entities and advise stakeholders accordingly.
  • Assist with IRS and state tax audits and correspondence.
  • Provide support in the valuation of estate assets and preparation of estate tax returns.
  • Ensure timely filing of tax returns and estimated payments.
  • Utilize tax software and financial systems to manage workflow and reporting.
  • Ensures the Firm complies, on behalf of our clients, with federal, state and foreign tax rules and regulations.
  • Provide overflow support to Tax Department.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration.
  • CPA, JD, or Enrolled Agent required.
  • 7+ years of experience in fiduciary tax accounting, preferably in a law firm, wealth management firm, or public accounting environment. Experience working with high-net-worth individuals and complex estate structures preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of fiduciary taxation, estate and gift tax rules.
  • Advanced Excel skills, and proficiency in tax preparation software.
  • Excellent analytical, organization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
