Summary
A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is responsible for the pre-operative, intra-operative, and immediate post-operative care of the patient requiring anesthesia for surgical, medical, therapeutic or diagnostic procedures. This position will rotate throughout different hospitals in the healthcare system and provide anesthesia services across a variety of clinical settings, which could include an academic medical center, community hospitals, or ambulatory centers. Essential Functions Develop anesthesia care plans. Serve as a resource for nursing staff on complex clinical cases and ethical dilemmas. Conduct physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests. Calibrate and test anesthesia equipment. Monitors the life support functions of patients during period of anesthesia for procedures or emergencies as needed. Prepares and evaluates the safety of anesthetic equipment, supplies, and drugs. Yes Education Master's Degree Nurse Anesthesia Practitioner required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Anesthetist, Certified Registered Nurse [CRNA - National] required Experience Experience as a CRNA 0-1 year preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, biochemistry, chemistry, physics and pharmacology as related to anesthesia. The major clinical component providing experience with a variety of anesthesia techniques and procedures for all types of surgery in the adult and pediatric population. Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-based care setting, with the ability to work independently as well as in a care team to deliver high quality care. Effective interpersonal skills to work with surgeons and staff in a variety of cases and environments. Flexibility to work according to the OR patient schedule, making changes as needed. Fluent in verbal and written language skills; and timely responses when needed. Flexibility to adapt to changing work environments and different procedures and teams.
