Department (OPH) CCH - Division of Chronic Disease PreventionJob Description: Responsibilities The Program Research Specialist III (PRS III) will support initiatives including those that provide chronic disease screening and diagnostic services to uninsured or under-insured New Yorkers. The incumbent will coordinate and provide oversight of performance measurement and evaluation, generating monthly reports and interpreting trends for internal and external program partners to identify barriers, disparities, and opportunities for quality improvement. Responsibilities will include continued reproduction of existing reports, data sharing, and development of new tools for performance oversight, such as data dashboards. The PRS III will additionally lead analyses investigating the root causes of disparities in chronic diseases diagnosed, applying scientific protocols to determine drivers of delays in diagnosis and best practices for repeat screening and timely diagnostic follow-up. Findings may be shared in peer reviewed settings and conferences. The incumbent will also manage and analyze data from projects designed to evaluate and improve other chronic disease prevention programs. Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of research experience in the collection and analysis of data; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience. Preferred Qualifications A Master's degree in public health, statistics, or a related field. Experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting data to evaluate health or human service programs. Experience working with Microsoft Excel and statistical analysis software packages (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R). Experience with writing and presenting information to varied audiences and in multiple formats including reports, presentations, infographics, or other formats. Experience providing training and technical assistance. Ability to work with a varied group of partners. Experience working with disparate populations and associated data. Experience analyzing or interpreting data related to social determinants of health and/or health equity. Conditions of Employment Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required. Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Travel up to 10% of the time will be required. The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire.
