Description
This position is located in Montville, CT servicing a family-owned business with a commitment to their community and to sustainability. Summary Rand-Whitney Container has an immediate opening for an E&I Technician at a recycled cardboard/linerboard manufacturing facility in Montville, CT. This position will be primarily responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical and instrumentation equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Read blueprints, P&IDs, single-lines, ladder logic, and wiring schematics.
- Repair and troubleshoot analog and discrete instrument loops.
- Effectively use typical instrument calibration equipment (RTD calibrators, mA calibrators, T/C calibrators, laptops for communication).
- Follow step by step calibration procedures.
- Use computerized systems to enter and retrieve data including the CMMS (Maximo).
- Troubleshoot and repair 480 VAC 3 phase motor starter circuits, 4-20 mA loops as well as 120 VAC control circuits.
- Troubleshoot PLC problems through knowledge of PLC logic and operations.
- Work with and troubleshoot the following: smart pressure transmitters, magnetic & dp flow meters, temperature transmitters, ABB DCS system or at least some familiarity with DCS hardware, control valves and smart valve controllers, solenoids, pressure and flow limit switches, etc.
- Works overtime (both scheduled and emergency), after-hours (early morning or late night), weekends and Holidays as required. Shift schedule will be adjusted as necessary by Management to provide the best possible coverage and operation.
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED required.
- 2 year Instrumentation and/or electrical trade school graduate preferred.
- Valid CT Electrical License preferred
- Must have 4 years of E&I experience.
- Very detail oriented and willing to document details appropriately.
- Familiar with PLCs & PLC logic (Allen Bradley, GE Fanuc).
- Experience utilizing Lock Tag & Try, and Confined Space Procedures.
- Strict safety programs adherence philosophy.
Physical Demands
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- The work schedule repeats every 28 days and rotates between days and nights. There are 14 work shifts over 28 days, 7 are day shifts and 7 are night shifts. The 14 days off include 7 days off in a row.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
