The Opportunity

TC Energy is looking to add a Buyer to our US Procurement Team. Reporting to the Manager, US Procurement, the successful candidate will be responsible for the procurement of materials by assigned commodity, managing the full sourcing lifecycle including RFx development, commercial evaluations, and supplier negotiations. This individual acts as the single point of contact for purchase orders, ensuring alignment with internal stakeholders and maintaining accurate SAP records.

What you'll do

  • Lead the material procurement management of assigned projects, which are of varying levels of complexity

  • Conduct bid spreadsheet analyses and commercial evaluations of proposals; Coordinate overall evaluations with project clients. Uses analysis in negotiations with suppliers

  • Develop, issue, and manage RFPs, RFQ, RFIs, etc.

  • Single point of contact (SPOC) pertaining to purchase orders within area of responsibility

  • Liaise with bidders, suppliers, and other internal stakeholders (supplier qualification, engineering, project team, Legal, Risk, etc.) as required

  • Brings key industry contacts and relationships for suppliers of interstate natural gas pipe, valves, fittings and other key categories

  • Fully understand all terms and conditions of all purchase orders and work within the purchase order terms and conditions in all dealings with the supplier

  • Ensure all relevant information is received to maintain SAP records

  • Ability to understand bill of materials and specifications

  • Leads cross-functional teams

  • Develops and executes savings opportunities, efficiencies and process improvements

  • Interact with high levels of colleagues and management to routinely resolve issues which involve exceptional controversy or have the potential to affect a major business segment

  • Develops and presents recommendations to business leaders regarding cost drivers, supplier performance, industry trends, etc.

  • Actively identifies future Supply Chain needs and opportunities based on data, business unit needs and market analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Relevant University degree and a designation in a Supply Chain Management program

  • Strategic thinker and team player, with outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  • Five years Procurement experience purchasing natural gas equipment (Pipe, Valves, Fittings, Engineered Equipment, etc.)

  • Knowledge of strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management

  • Technical & commercial experience in materials and services with emphasis on midstream operations (e.g. pipe, valve, fittings etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience in developing relationships with a variety of stakeholders

  • Ability to work independently and remotely

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results and achieve goals

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

  • Experience in conducting RFPs for pipeline and facilities construction for natural gas company

  • Able to work under tight deadlines and demonstrates strong time management and priority setting skills
