The Occupational Therapist - Neonatal Research will oversee the multisensory interventions for enrolled babies in the neonatal intensive care unit and adjust the intervention plan as needed for individual babies. This person will be responsible for performing detailed education with families of enrolled participants, performing multisensory interventions as needed, and training support staff members, and other duties as assigned. The therapist will use expertise of infant development along with methods of modeling and guidance to assist, support, and promote parents to effectively conduct sensory interventions.

Job Duties

  • Performs clinical research interventions on research participants.
  • Communication with research team and families of research participants.
  • Utilize telehealth technology as needed.
  • Educate new team members and families of research participants on research interventions.
  • Equipment and supply maintenance.
  • Maintains and keeps research records and logs.
  • Follow existing research protocols.
  • Utilizes the electronic medical record to retrieve research data.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of specialized neonatal therapy interventions and infant development.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Interpersonal/human relations skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of specialized medical/scientific terminology.
  • Ability to work as a member of team.
  • Ability to tend to details, maintain records.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy or physical therapy or speech language pathology
  • Licensed in physical therapy or occupational therapy or speech language pathology
  • 3 years' experience in neonatal therapy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in neonatal therapy or willingness to apply for CNT designation in upcoming application cycle
  • Prior related clinical research
