Job Description

The Automation Engineer creates automated systems for use in a production and manufacturing environment. Collaborates with departmental and corporate leadership to determine existing automation capabilities and future opportunities, creating

detailed road maps for automation projects that support business objectives.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop, test and maintain automation infrastructure.
  • Integrate, maintain, and debug computer systems and programs used in assigned automation projects.
  • Interface with Process Control, Product Engineering and Manufacturing personnel on all assigned automation projects.
  • Ensure compliance with Software Quality Assurance when programming or maintaining automation code.
  • Author, edit or compile all technical procedures pertaining to operation of new or updated software systems.
  • Assist and instruct others on use of new or updated automation software systems.
  • Conduct automation scripts code review.
  • Identify potential areas of improvement and design plan for implementation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Apply computer science skills in developing manufacturing real-time data acquisition and control systems.

Desired Skills:

  • Highly organized and self-motivated individual.
  • Able to work independently as well as work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Fanuc Robotic programming and setup experience a plus.
  • Experience with other industrial control packages a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering,
  • Two to five years of experience managing PLC ladder logic.
  • EATM, or a relevant technical field.
  • Two to five years of experience with Allen Bradley PLC's, PC Human-Machine Interface packages, Visual Basic,
  • Two to five years of experience programming using Microsoft .NET, and Microsoft SQL.
  • Two to Five of working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong ability with software testing and validation.
