Data Manager (Level 10)

The Data Manager supports the administration, maintenance, and data integrity of the Office of Admissions databases, including Slate CRM and PeopleSoft, as well as diverse aspects of the application process. Works collaboratively with the Operations Team to support check for completion, data maintenance, and prospective/admitted student inquiries as needed to support Admissions initiatives. The Data Manager is a key player in the reconciliation of Admissions data across programs and partnerships and will act as a liaison across multiple Admissions teams and external partners for onboarding and maintenance needs. Reports to the Associate Director of Data Analytics.



Minimum Requirements:


  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • CRM experience required, preferably with Slate.
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience, preferably in a technical, database management, or admissions role.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic, team environment with a proven track record of successful project management including ability to work independently.
  • Must be very comfortable in a highly computerized environment.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills required.
  • Strong written communication, interpersonal and team skills are essential.
  • At least an intermediate level of Excel knowledge/skills required.
  • Proficiencies with Microsoft Word, MS Teams and Outlook desirable.

Key Responsibilities include:



  • Act as Admissions operations lead for gathering intel needed to support the implementation of new programs and partnerships.
  • Coordinate data sharing efforts and operational e-mail initiatives with external partners (i.e., The Consortium, Nicholas School of the Environment, etc.).
  • Contribute to Slate enhancements and assist in extensive testing/training of Slate for new systems/functionality.
  • Support creation and execution of Slate queries/reports.
  • Handle data maintenance including duplicate records, withdrawal/program change/cloned application requests, and any other routine data cleanup needed.
  • Monitor data activity in both Slate CRM and PeopleSoft to identify potential inconsistencies; make recommendations for solutions to problems identified.
  • Act as a backup to create, manage, and document all processes, interfaces, and reports in Slate.
  • Manage Slate Inbox and support check for completion (CFC) needs across programs.
  • Support admitted student requirements process across programs.
  • Provide input to enhance operational processes and user support to staff for daily operational processes.
  • Serve as FERPA liaison with Duke University Registrar and training lead for new hires.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Anticipated Pay Range:

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $44,766.00 to USD $71,706.00. Education
