Summary of Job Duties:We are seeking a motivated, independent, and detail-oriented Associate Staff Scientist to join our research team. This role will focus on human subject research spanning large data sets, observational studies, and randomized controlled trials (RCTs). The Associate Staff Scientist will contribute across the full research continuum-from study setup and participant engagement to data analysis, dissemination, and training-while working in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment. Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree in nutrition, epidemiology, public health, psychology, biomedical sciences, or a related field plus 5+ years of relevant experience, including progressive staff and project management experience.

  • Postdoctoral fellowship and experience assisting in grant-writing preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience with human subject research and regulatory requirements.

  • Strong background in statistical methods, large dataset management, and data analysis software (e.g., R, SAS, SPSS, Stata, or Python).

  • Evidence of scientific writing, including manuscripts and/or grant proposals.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Experience supervising students or trainees preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of research protocols for observational studies and RCTs.

  • Ensure compliance with IRB, ethical, and regulatory standards for human subject research.

  • Oversee day-to-day study operations, including participant recruitment, data collection, and quality control.

  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth execution of study milestones.

  • Manage and analyze complex data sets using statistical and computational methods.

  • Contribute to writing and submission of manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.

  • Support the preparation of grant applications, progress reports, and presentations.

  • Provide guidance and training for students, interns, and post-doctoral fellows.

  • Manage small teams to ensure project timelines and deliverables are met.

  • Performs other duties as required.
