Senior Sales Manager

Milliman, Inc
life insurance, parental leave, paid time off, paid holidays, 401(k)
United States, Minnesota, Eden Prairie
Oct 22, 2025
Description

MARA is seeking a driven and relationship-oriented Senior Sales Manager who is passionate about helping healthcare organizations solve complex problems through data and analytics. This is not just a typical sales role. This is a high-impact, entrepreneurial position for someone who loves connecting with people, shaping strategy, and closing meaningful deals.

At MARA, you'll join a small, high-performing team that values curiosity, creativity, and shared success. We combine the entrepreneurial energy of a startup with the stability and reputation of a 75-year-old global firm. Every voice matters here, and great ideas move fast.

As MARA continues to grow, we're looking for a senior sales leader who can build and manage a strong client pipeline, align marketing efforts, craft compelling proposals and pitch materials, and represent MARA at conferences and client meetings. This is a highly visible, commission-driven role where success is directly tied to your ability to generate new business and deepen partnerships within the healthcare ecosystem.

You'll report directly to the Director of Strategy and Growth, working closely with our business development, marketing, and client services teams to translate interest into long-term relationships. You'll have the autonomy to chase opportunities, the support of a top-tier analytical and client services team, and the opportunity to help shape the next chapter of MARA's growth.

What You Will Do

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and execute a sales strategy aligned with MARA's growth goals and brand positioning.
  • Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities across healthcare payers, providers, integrators, and related healthcare markets.
  • Build and manage a high-quality sales pipeline, supported by our business development and marketing team.
  • Maintain accurate client and pipeline data in CRM systems and provide reliable forecasts to leadership.
  • Create compelling, accurate proposals and pitch decks that meet Milliman's peer review and quality standards.
  • Partner with marketing to ensure consistent messaging and lead-generation strategy.
  • Represent MARA at conferences, industry events, and client meetings with professionalism and enthusiasm.
  • Collaborate closely with the client services team to ensure a smooth handoff and positive client experience.
  • Provide insight and feedback from the market to inform product development and positioning.
  • This role involves moderate travel (approximately 10-30%), including attendance at industry conferences, client meetings, and MARA events.

What We Are Looking For

  • 10+ years of progressive sales experience in healthcare, analytics, or related technology sectors.
  • MBA in Business Administration or similar focus.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare management, or related field.
  • Proven success in building and closing new client relationships and achieving revenue growth targets.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare markets, payer and provider dynamics, and analytics-driven solutions.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills. Confident in front of C-suite audiences.
  • Experience developing proposals, pricing strategies, and client materials with high attention to accuracy and polish.
  • Comfort working both independently and in collaboration with marketing, business development, and client delivery teams.

Personal Qualifications

  • Entrepreneurial mindset: self-motivated, innovative, and energized by building something from within.
  • Highly relationship focused: naturally develops trust and credibility with clients and teammates alike.
  • Brings positivity, energy, and genuine curiosity to every conversation.
  • Collaborative, respectful, and humble in approach while maintaining strong personal accountability.
  • Organized and adaptable, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Curious and strategic: enjoys learning about the business, our products, and the healthcare landscape.
  • Tenacious and persuasive, with a natural ability to build trust and momentum.
  • Results-driven and motivated by measurable impact.
  • Thrives in ambiguity and finds creative ways to move opportunities forward.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of U.S. healthcare and payer markets, including Medicare Advantage and risk adjustment.

  • Prior experience creating proof-of-concept studies or evaluating predictive models.
  • Experience influencing or advising healthcare professionals through data-driven insights.
