Building on our past. Ready for the future

Worley is a global professional services company of energy, chemicals and resources experts. We partner with customers to deliver projects and create value over the life of their assets. We're bridging two worlds, moving towards more sustainable energy sources, while helping to provide the energy, chemicals and resources needed now.

Play an integral role in building a sustainable future. At Worley, we are dedicated to advancing the world's most ambitious projects, including the design and manufacturing of industrial air contactors for direct air capture (DAC) plants-technology that removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere at scale. We are seeking an Industrial Sealants & Coatings Quality Manager who is passionate about precision, performance, and innovation-someone who understands the science behind coatings and sealants, their application in manufacturing, and their critical role in long-term equipment reliability.

Purpose of the Role

You will be responsible for leading the quality control and assurance functions for industrial-grade sealants and coatings used in the fabrication and assembly of DAC air contactor components. Acting as the site's Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will establish, validate, and oversee the use of sealant and coating systems that meet demanding environmental and performance requirements. You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to ensure proper material selection, surface preparation, and application methods-so that every finished component consistently meets or exceeds specification and customer expectations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical authority for sealants and coatings, advising on product selection, surface preparation, application, curing, inspection, and maintenance.
  • Lead qualification and validation of sealant and coating systems used across manufacturing operations, ensuring full compliance with product data sheets, ASTM standards, and project specifications.
  • Develop and maintain standard work procedures and inspection criteria for sealant use, including environmental controls, substrate compatibility, and adhesion testing.
  • Oversee the hands-on application process during fabrication-verifying correct mixing, bead configuration, tooling, and curing for metal and composite assemblies.
  • Train and certify operators and inspectors in proper sealant and coating handling, application, and inspection techniques.
  • Conduct process audits to verify compliance, identify improvement opportunities, and reinforce disciplined quality practices.
  • Partner with suppliers and manufacturer technical representatives to troubleshoot issues, evaluate product performance, and assess new materials or technologies.
  • Manage all test results, batch traceability, and inspection records associated with sealant and coating applications.
  • Lead or support root cause analyses for coating- or sealant-related nonconformances, driving corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the site's Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001, ASME, and API standards.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Production to integrate sealant and coating performance considerations early in the design and manufacturing process.

What You'll Bring to the Role

  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline-or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • At least 10 years of manufacturing quality control experience, with 5+ years directly involving industrial sealants, coatings, or adhesives in production or assembly environments.
  • Deep technical knowledge of polyurethane, polysulfide, or silicone-based sealant systems used in metal fabrication, joint sealing, or composite applications.
  • Strong understanding of surface preparation, adhesion mechanisms, and environmental influences on coating and sealant performance.
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply product data sheets, ASTM test methods, and coating specifications accurately.
  • Demonstrated experience in training personnel, managing inspection programs, and maintaining high quality standards on the shop floor.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving, process auditing, and root cause analysis for sealant or coating performance issues.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems, ASME/API codes, and Lean or Six Sigma process improvement tools.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills-able to build trust and alignment across engineering, production, and supplier teams.

Preferred Certifications:

  • ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)
  • NACE Coatings Inspector Program (CIP) Level I, II, or III
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
  • Lean Manufacturing Certification
