Advanced Practice Clinician Manager - Moorhead, Duluth, and Saint Cloud, MN, Sioux Falls, SD

Pay: The anticipated salary range for this position is $124,000 - $145,000/year, depending on experience and qualifications. Compensation is determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant work experience, the skills required for the role, internal equity, market competitiveness, and budget considerations. Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Shift times: Monday - Friday, variable shifts between 8am - 7pm. Primarily between approximately 9am - 5pm.

Location: Hybrid: minimum one day/week in home health center, remaining days remote or on site at other listed health centers.

Job type: Salaried/Exempt

Float/Travel: Occasional travel amongst listed health centers.

Job Summary:

Under immediate supervision of the Associate Medical Director of Family Planning, the APC Manager performs a wide variety of functions. Primary responsibilities include creating a culture where the norm is high-functioning clinicians who lead their team(s) to provide evidence-based quality care resulting in exceptional customer service. Other responsibilities include direct supervision of clinicians at designated center sites in addition to maintaining clinical skills in providing direct patient care. APC Managers are advocates in implementing our mission of "Advancing and protecting sexual and reproductive healthcare for all." They may perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Licenses and certifications:

    • Current license by applicable state(s): Registered Nurse and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant.
    • DEA license or ability to obtain at hire, and enrollment in Controlled Substance Monitoring Program as applicable in state you are applying for the role
    • Valid driver's license.
    • Maintain certification in BLS.


  • Advanced degree, minimally master's degree.
  • 2+ years work experience with progressively responsible duties
  • Leadership experience



Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:



  • Provides direct supervision to clinicians in assigned Neighborhood or Department.
  • Leads clinicians in development of a culture that fosters positive attitudes and trust among staff to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Assists clinicians in creating and maintaining a team-based plan to meet PPNCS goals and objectives.
  • Supports and leads clinician team through changes in the business. Serves as a role model to staff and peers in meeting standards for agency revenue, expense / margin, visit volumes, and quality health care.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of Planned Parenthood policies and procedures and apply them to patient and clinic services. Monitors and evaluates clinician staff adherence to policies and SOPs in their daily performance.
  • Act as a consultant to PPNCS clinicians and clinic support staff; take on-call shifts as assigned.
  • Participate and present agenda items in regular clinician meetings, conduct regular 1:1 meetings with direct reports.
  • Lead and participate in workgroups as appropriate and assigned.
  • Evaluate and monitor clinician performance, including annual review of clinical skills, audits of clinician and support staff charting, billing and coding, and annual CLIA competency and semi-annual CLIA proficiency assessments.
  • Understand and review data with clinicians from various tools including Tableau, Patient Activity Tracker, and weekly Dashboards.
  • Model performance and health center operations metrics.
  • Model, communicate, and celebrate workplace values.
  • Perform all essential duties as a PPNCS clinician appropriate for licensure status.
  • Follow all state laws regarding mandatory reporting.
  • Comply with state laws governing abortion services.
  • Partnering with Center Managers in providing a dyad leadership model ensuring cohesive and collaborative patient-centered care among all members of the center teams.
  • Reinforces a patient-centered service model by mentoring clinicians and setting an example by creating an environment that stresses responsive service delivery. Anticipates patient needs and assures clinicians maintain clinical quality and customer service standards. Responds to patients in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Take proactive steps to resolve staff issues quickly and efficiently using ongoing, continual feedback. In consultation with Human Resources, responsible for staff performance plans and disciplinary actions.
  • Works to advance all of the medical services provided at our health centers including family planning, reproductive health services, abortion services, contraceptive services, mental health, and transgender care.
  • Partners with staff and collaborates with other departments to assure health centers are meeting organizational goals.


Immunization Requirements:



  • Hepatitis B vaccination records and titers
  • Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccination records or proof of immunization
  • Chicken Pox vaccination records or proof of immunization
  • Tetanus shot documentation
  • Tuberculosis PPD Skin Test that is no older than 12 months
