Overview
Shure is looking for a high-performing and innovative PCB Engineering Technician to join our team! Join our dynamic engineering team where you'll play a key role in supporting cross-functional projects across AD, BR, CM, departmental, and corporate initiatives. In this hands-on role, you'll be responsible for:
Fabricating, assembling, and troubleshooting printed circuit boards (PCBs)
- Conducting bench experiments and collecting technical data
- Documenting and communicating results effectively
- Building and debugging test fixtures and prototypes
- Developing and refining efficient processes for PCB development and testing
We're looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys solving complex technical challenges with precision and creativity. This position will sit onsite in our Niles, IL HQ!
Responsibilities
- Build, assemble, troubleshoot, and rework printed circuit boards
- CNC plotter experience
- LPKF protomat series (or other equivalent PCB prototype machine) familiarity
- Chemical/metallic electroplating experience
- Skilled at application of solder resist/films
- Chemical PCB etching experience
- CAD software experience
- PCB assembly experience
- Test and debug analog or digital circuitry at board level with assistance from engineering staff
- Electrical test PCBs for 100% continuity
- Familiarity with PCB material technology and cost drivers
- Help teams or individuals to source electronic components either from internal inventories or external vendors or CEMs
- Assemble prototypes and perform system / sub-system level tests on microphones, signal processors, personal monitors, and accessories, with assistance from engineering staff
- Assist in the design, construction, and wiring of various test fixtures, with assistance from Sr. Technicians
- Assist teams with quality testing, EMI/EMC testing both in and out of house, as well as debugging failures from this testing
- Organize, document, and communicate results of tests, experiments, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in electronics or electronics technology (or equivalent, or higher)
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of related experience building and troubleshooting electronics products with SMT components.
- Must be able to understand simple electronics concepts such as Ohms Law, KVL, KCL
- Must be able to read schematics, pcb layouts, bill of materials, assembly directions, electrical part specifications, etc.
- Electrical wiring knowledge
- Basic knowledge of communication systems, analog circuitry and measurement, and/or digital circuitry and measurement is preferred.
- Must have the ability to work with electronic test equipment such as but not limited to signal generators, spectrum analyzers, audio analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, power meters, etc
- Must be able to work with solvents, solder paste, epoxies, and various chemicals
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Previous PCB design a plus
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Ability to derive root cause and come up with innovative yet practical solutions
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and to change priorities quickly - must be flexible!
- Ability to fix/repair/maintain electrical equipment
- Quality consciousness
- Strong desire to learn and improve self both technically and soft-skills

PAY TRANSPARENCY Shure offers a competitive compensation structure that is reviewed annually to attract, hire, and retain the industry's top talent. Base salaries vary based on qualifications, geography, experience, and expertise in each respective discipline. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum base salary for the opportunity. The base salary for this position ranges from $55,000 to $87,000. If your salary expectations do not align, still apply as we are often flexible on the seniority of posted positions. All positions also include an award-winning benefits package.
