Position Highlights University Information Technology Services (UITS) is seeking an Instructional Technology Professional II to join the Instructional Technology Integration & Build Team within IT Support Services.

This position provides comprehensive technology support for learning environments across all University locations. Responsibilities include A/V system design, installation, integration, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure high-quality instructional and event technology experiences. The role involves consulting with faculty, staff, and students to assess needs and resolve technical challenges, while delivering efficient and reliable service.

The ideal candidate will bring strong customer service skills, broad technical expertise with audio/visual and instructional technology systems, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Success in this role also requires adaptability, collaborative problem-solving, and maintaining positive relationships with campus partners.

The successful candidate is required to obtain (if not already obtained) Crestron CTI-Commercial Technician and Extron AV Associate Certifications, AVIXA CTS, and Dante Level III certification within 12 months of employment.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and test A/V hardware and software, including displays, projectors, audio systems, control interfaces, and network-connected devices.
  • Ensure systems are optimized and fully functional prior to use.
  • Plan, design, and integrate audio/visual and instructional technology systems for classrooms, conference spaces, and specialized learning environments.
  • Evaluate room needs, create design documentation, and recommend equipment and infrastructure to meet instructional goals.
  • Provide technical support for installed systems, diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance, firmware updates, and repairs to keep technology reliable and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and stakeholders to understand technology needs, recommend solutions, and provide training or orientation on using new or updated systems effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of system designs, configurations, and service activities.
  • Recommend process or technology improvements to enhance system reliability, user experience, and support efficiency.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge of audio/visual systems including projection, display, audio reinforcement, video conferencing, and control platforms.
  • Understanding of low-voltage wiring, signal flow, and networking as it relates to A/V integration and IT infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices (e.g., AVIXA/InfoComm, ADA, safety, and building codes).
  • Proficiency with system design documentation (wiring diagrams, schematics, and equipment lists).
  • Skill in troubleshooting and diagnosing A/V issues quickly and effectively.
  • Knowledge of configuration tools and control systems (e.g., Extron, Crestron, Biamp, QSC).
  • Ability to plan and manage projects, organize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong customer service and communication abilities, with a focus on collaboration and support.
  • Capacity to adapt to rapidly changing technology and evolving instructional needs.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts related to A/V over IP solutions.
  • Ability to train and support end users on new instructional or meeting technologies.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally work in confined spaces.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree AND 3 years of relevant work experience, OR equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Audio/Visual Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) or other relevant certifications (e.g., Crestron, Extron, Biamp, QSC).
  • Three or more years of experience with A/V design, integration, and support in learning or enterprise environments.
  • Experience configuring and programming control systems (e.g., Extron, Crestron).
  • Experience with project management or coordinating technology installations.
  • Experience with higher education or large-scale, multi-site environments.
