Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on and safety-conscious Fabrication Technician to join our plastics fabrication shop. This position involves cutting, assembling, and welding a wide range of plastic fittings, structures, and components used in municipal, industrial, and commercial applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.

Job Responsibilities




  • Saw, fabricate, and assemble various sizes and types of plastic fittings, structures, and fabrications according to project specifications



  • Operate hand tools and power equipment, including hydraulic fusion welding machines, chain saws, band saws, radial arm saws, reciprocating saws, and grinders



  • Perform extrusion or fusion welding of plastic materials (training provided)



  • Lift, carry, and maneuver pipes, fittings, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds or more as needed



  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and fabrication layouts accurately



  • Measure and cut materials precisely, maintaining accuracy within 1/8 inch (tape measure test required)



  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure all work is performed safely and efficiently



  • Adhere to all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times



  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure production goals are met



  • Work independently or collaboratively depending on project requirements



  • Be punctual, dependable, and willing to work overtime as required




Job Requirements




  • Mechanical or construction experience required



  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints or fabrication drawings



  • Proficient in reading a tape measure and performing basic unit conversions (feet to inches)



  • Basic math skills for layout and dimension verification



  • General computer skills preferred



  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately



  • Physically able to lift, load, and maneuver heavy materials and operate fabrication tools safely



  • Must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and teamwork



  • Willingness to learn new techniques and adapt to evolving production needs




Education




  • High school diploma or equivalent required



  • Technical or vocational training in mechanical, construction, or welding fields preferred




Work Experience




  • Prior experience in fabrication, construction, or mechanical assembly required



  • Experience in plastic fabrication or welding is a plus (training available)




Additional Job Details




  • Schedule: Full-time; overtime may be required based on project needs



  • Must adhere to all safety and PPE standards at all times



  • Reliable attendance and punctuality are required
