Tessera is seeking an accomplished Engineering Technician III to advance mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) reliability and asset management at USAFA. In this senior-level role, you will design and lead integration of CMMS, IoT sensors, RPA workflows, and BI dashboards; conduct advanced system evaluations; mentor junior technicians; and collaborate closely with electrical, HVAC, and mechanical craftsmen to plan and execute mission-critical maintenance and repairs-ensuring infrastructure remains fully operational and compliant.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the design and deployment of integrated MEP asset management solutions-including CMMS (Maximo), mobile platforms, RPA (UiPath), and BI tools-and architect RAM processes (inspections, preventive maintenance, RCA, sensor integration) with software architects and SMEs.
  • Conduct high-visibility reliability and optimization projects using low-code tools, predictive analytics, AI/ML, and ISO 55000 standards to prioritize recapitalization and performance improvements.
  • Collaborate with electrical, HVAC, and mechanical craftsmen to coordinate work scopes, verify repair quality, and ensure timely completion of mission-critical maintenance and repairs.
  • Conduct advanced inspections and condition assessments of HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, and fire-protection systems; analyze performance data, recommend corrective actions, and develop job plans, CAD/Revit drawings, and technical specifications in compliance with USAFA codes and safety protocols.
  • Facilitate hands-on knowledge transfer for mid- and entry-level technicians, conduct safety briefings, and ensure compliance with OSHA and USAFA regulations.
  • Lead RAM eLearning and strategic planning initiatives-recruiting members, delivering training, promoting certifications, and identifying high-ROI MEP reliability and recapitalization projects that boost internal performance and mission success.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5-8 years of hands-on experience as an engineering technician in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems maintenance, reliability, and asset management.
  • Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Structural Engineering Technology, or related field; or equivalent military technical training required
  • Bachelor's degree Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Facilities Engineering Technology-or a related field-is preferred.
  • Deep expertise with CMMS tools (IBM Maximo or equivalent), RPA platforms (UiPath), BI/dashboarding solutions, and IoT sensor integration
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent CAD software; solid understanding of MEP design principles, building codes, and ISO 55000 standards
  • Demonstrated track record of leading reliability projects (RCA, PM optimization, condition monitoring) and data-driven asset performance analysis
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills; proven ability to collaborate with craftsmen, engineers, and senior stakeholders
  • NICET, CMRP, or equivalent certification highly desirable
