Genesis10 is seeking a Buyer for a contract position with a manufacturing/industrial client located in Oak Brook, IL. Will work onsite for training, but then be mostly remote. May need to attend meetings onsite as needed. Compensation: $38.00 - 40.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience level. Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated Buyer III with strong procurement and supply chain expertise to join a high-performing team. This role requires a self-starter who can quickly adapt, manage large-scale purchasing activities, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment. The position offers exposure to global procurement processes and commodities, with responsibilities scaling based on years of experience. Responsibilities: Perform data analysis, resourcing actions, supplier negotiations, surcharge management, reporting, and payment resolutions. Support waste minimization fund (WMF) mitigations, market tests, and technical reviews. Analyze and evaluate external price trends and new product offerings to drive cost reduction. Collaborate with suppliers to ensure product quality, compliance with specifications, and capacity to meet forecasted demand. Coordinate efforts to reduce purchasing/engineering costs and establish cost structures for new products. Participate in design and technical reviews as needed. Select, recommend, and manage supplier relationships to ensure consistent performance and quality. Work with SAP and Excel (pivots, vlookups, macros required); training provided on client-specific systems. Travel to supplier sites as required (minimal, using client-provided vehicle; DMV check required). Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of procurement/supply chain/purchasing experience within a defined commodity. Preferred 8-12 years of experience with commodities at a global procurement level. Entry-level experience candidates: focus on review and recommendations. Higher-level experience candidates: manage entire commodity scope. Strong proficiency in SAP and Excel (mandatory). Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical specifications, and perform technical/quality reviews. Experience with supplier negotiations, cost analysis, and large-scale purchasing transactions. Strong analytical skills with ability to navigate and source information (web-based tools). Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; ability to perform under high-demand conditions. Bachelor's degree preferred (Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field).
