Position Highlights

The College of Fine Art's School of Theatre, Film & Television (TFTV) is accepting applications for a Production Services Manager (Fabrication Technologist II). The Production Services Manager oversees the operation of the production equipment, checkout facility, and advanced post-production edit and sound mixing areas, including related budgetary expenses from purchasing to maintenance. The successful incumbent will train, mentor and guide a part-time staff employee, as well as train and supervise student workers. The Production Services Manager provides technical and instructional support to faculty and students, as needed; and supports annual public screening events for the Film and Television Program by supervising creation of compilation reels and other items for delivery to exhibitors. This position will report to the Production Area head for the School of Theatre, Film & Television and the Director of the School of Theater, Film, and Television.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for all Film and Television (FTV) Production Services production equipment, including check outs and operations.

Researches and recommends gear and purchase.

Manages service/repair and maintenance.

Maintains inventory and database operations.

Supports classroom audiovisual equipment.

Responsible for all post-production facilities; including working with College of Fine Arts IT on functioning of licenses and equipment for computer workstations (including ProTools, ProTools Plug-ins, and Adobe Creative Suite).

Oversees building and CatCard access for Marshall building and FTV classroom/lab spaces for over 200 FTV Production students.

Manage all post-production and film delivery operations including supporting Quality Control, assembling student films into DCPs and delivering them to exhibitors.

Support public screenings of student, faculty, and guest work both on campus and community venues.

Manages and maintains records of all FTV production budgeting, expenses, and bookkeeping, including associated personnel budget expenses.

Develops and maintains relationships with outside vendors and sponsors.

Trains FTV Production Services staff (1 part-time employee) and student workers (6 student workers).

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

* Knowledge of camera, lighting, sound gear and ProTools, ProTools plug-ins, and Adobe Creative Suite
* Knowledge of the operations of a performing arts venue.
* Knowledge of relevant OSHA, ANSI, and NFPA regulations and standards and industry best practices.
* Team management skills.
* Skilled in one or more specialties of technical theater.
* Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information

Physical Requirements:
* Ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
* Must be able to repetitively move/lift/carry up to 50lbs. This position will require long periods of standing, sitting, bending, repetitive hand motion, kneeling, walking, climbing stairs, stooping, squatting, crouching, balancing, pulling, pushing.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational or technical training in film/video production and post-production and exhibition
  • Experience supervising employees
  • Experience in Film and/or TV video production
