The future is now, Willdan is "Envisioning the Future" of Building & Safety through our work with cities, buildings, and transportation. Public Agency Resources (PARS), a subsidiary of Willdan Group Inc., is seeking a qualified Building Inspectorto join our team in Indianapolis, IN. They will provide inspection services for residential, commercial, and industrial projects in the Indianapolis area. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of five years of experience, strong technical knowledge of building codes, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to ensuring safe, code-compliant construction within the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform field inspections of building construction, alterations, repairs, and demolitions to verify compliance with applicable building, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, energy, and accessibility codes.
  • Review approved plans, permits, and specifications prior to conducting inspections.
  • Document inspection results, prepare clear and detailed reports, and issue notices of violation when necessary.
  • Respond to inquiries from contractors, developers, architects, and property owners regarding code requirements and inspection procedures.
  • Coordinate with municipal staff and attend project meetings as needed.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of inspections and ensure timely entry of reports into the city's permit tracking system.
  • Stay current with changes to state and local building codes and construction practices.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in construction, building inspection, or code enforcement.
  • Current ICC certification(s) as Residential and/or Commercial Building Inspector required; multiple certifications strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, construction methods, and applicable codes (IBC, IRC, IMC, IPC, NEC, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with inspection reporting software and permit tracking systems.
  • Valid driver's license.
