We are seeking a Software Engineer to support the Short and Intermediate Effectors for Layered Defense Project Office (SHIELD). In this role, you will directly work with SHIELD Software Engineering Division Manager and Product Office Chief Engineer to ensure product's success through rigorous engineering methods and technical expertise. You will support multidisciplinary Integrated Product Teams to develop solutions that support developmental and operational goals. To be successful you must leverage extensive systems and software engineering experience to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support to a US Government customer including:

• Perform all activities associated with the design, development, implementation, maintenance, configuration management and quality control of software for scientific/engineering applications
• Define system and software requirements and obtain customer approval
• Analyze customer requirements and translate them into a design
• Implement Agile development tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket/Git to manage work and collaborate with your teams
• Work to improve performance metrics through critical planning and execution of development tasks
• Determine software maintainability and overall adherence to user requirements on department standards
• Generate/update documents defining software product baselines

Required

• ABET accredited degree
• 20 years of related experience
• 5 years of direct experience with software development, object-oriented design, and programming, including architecture design, coding, and testing experience
• Hands-on experience with Java, C/C++, and/or Python
• Some Travel
• Must have an in-scope DoD Secret security clearance

Desired

• Experience with Air and Missile Defense (AMD) systems
