About the Role

We are seeking motivated Equipment Maintenance Technicians to join Polar Semiconductor in Bloomington, MN. In this role, you will monitor, sustain, and improve semiconductor manufacturing equipment and processes while working closely with production team members and area engineers. Your work will include maintaining tool performance, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and supporting equipment installations and upgrades. This role is essential to maximizing equipment uptime, ensuring quality, and driving operational excellence in a cleanroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete all required safety training and conduct work in compliance with safety policies.

  • Monitor equipment performance, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure tool uptime.

  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment using mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, and PC/software skills.

  • Perform calibrations, repairs, and updates on key process equipment and systems.

  • Document all maintenance activities in Equipment Management Systems and complete PM checklists accurately.

  • Create, review, and update controlled documentation (PM procedures, check-sheets, work instructions).

  • Engage in systematic troubleshooting to identify and resolve root causes of failures.

  • Monitor, analyze, and address SPC (Statistical Process Control) issues; respond to out-of-control conditions.

  • Support and maintain 5S standards and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Communicate effectively with engineers, lead technicians, and production teams to coordinate repairs and updates.

  • Contribute to detailed shift pass downs to ensure smooth transitions.

  • Safely perform work in hazardous environments while using appropriate PPE, including SCBA or respirators.

  • Participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate's degree in electronics technology or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and substantial related semiconductor manufacturing experience.

  • Knowledge of electronics and control systems, mechanics/robotics, hydraulics, pneumatics, vacuum systems, and fluid mechanics.

  • Understanding of AC/DC circuits, pneumatic/hydraulic circuits, and vacuum systems.

  • Familiarity with SPC principles and ability to respond to SPC issues.

  • Proficiency with test and calibration equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs).

  • PC skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills.

  • Ability to properly use hand tools and PPE.

  • Effective communication, multitasking, and time management skills.

Preferred:

  • 5+ years of maintenance experience with 200mm Sandvik MRL Horizontal Diffusion Furnaces, 200mm Expertech VTR Diffusion Vertical Furnaces, or 200mm TEL Alpha 8/8S/8SE LPCVD/Diffusion Vertical Furnaces.

  • Understanding of LPCVD and Diffusion processes.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.

What We Offer

Salary: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour plus applicable shift differentials (good faith estimate)
