Electrical Cost Engineer

Salary Range: $82,000 - $121,000 DOE Candidates residing outside the designated area may be eligible for additional compensation
 
Position Summary
 
We are seeking an Electrical Cost Engineer to join the estimating and cost management team for a large-scale project near Sunnyvale, California. Reporting to the Cost Manager or Project Manager, this role is focused on analyzing design and construction documents, validating electrical cost proposals, and preparing accurate estimates for electrical scope changes. The Electrical Cost Engineer will work closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure accurate cost control, reporting, and forecasting for electrical scopes. 
 
Key Responsibilities
 
  
 
 Setup and maintain job cost reports, including budgets, commitments, forecasts, contingencies, and spends 
 
 Track costs by bid package, field order, and client-defined change categories 
 
 Develop and maintain cost indicators, including visual graphics for reporting 
 
 Review and validate subcontractor and vendor cost proposals 
 
 Reconcile project cost reports monthly 
 
 Interpret design and construction documents to quantify electrical materials and requirements 
 
 Perform on-screen take-offs of material quantities 
 
 Prepare and manage cost authorization packages for review and approval 
 
 Summarize quantities of materials in an organized and consistent format 
  
  
 
 
Qualifications
 
Education & Experience 
 
  
 
 High school diploma or GED required 
 
 Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required (or equivalent work experience) 
 
 Minimum 2 years of electrical construction estimating experience required 
 
 Experience in commercial, healthcare, industrial, or water treatment projects preferred 
 
 Experience in industrial or high-tech semiconductor manufacturing projects strongly preferred 
 
 LEED Accredited Professional, or ability to achieve within 18 months, preferred 
  
  
 
 
Technical Skills 
 
  
 
 Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) 
 
 Familiarity with project management tools: Prolog, Procore, E-Builder, Bluebeam, MS Project, Primavera P6 
 
 Experience with design software: AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks 
 
 Ability to read and interpret construction documents, specifications, and survey data 
 
 Strong knowledge of low-voltage electrical construction practices 
 
 Familiarity with CSI specification system
