The Opportunity

Do you have a passion for learning and a drive to help design, improve, and shape the nation's energy infrastructure? As a Transmission Civil/Structural Engineer Intern in our Power Delivery - Transmission & Distribution (T&D) group, you'll have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while supporting the planning and design of critical high-voltage infrastructure projects ranging from 69kV to 345kV transmission lines. This internship will focus on developing your technical, analytical, and communication skills while contributing to real-world project deliverables and client success.

What You'll Do



  • Collaborate with engineers on the design of transmission systems including wood and steel poles, foundations, and overhead structures
  • Perform structural and foundation calculations under supervision
  • Support the development of complete transmission system designs using industry tools and standards
  • Learn and apply software such as PLS-CADD to support transmission line studies and layouts
  • Assist in preparing drawings, reports, and technical documentation
  • Participate in team meetings and gain exposure to the consulting engineering process
  • Opportunities may include field/site visits and professional training sessions

What We Expect from You



  • Minimum of 2 years completed towards earning a bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering preferred by Summer 2026
  • Relevant coursework in structural analysis, steel design, or concrete design
  • AutoCAD experience is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Access optional)
  • Strong communication skills and a desire to work in a collaborative, client-focused environment
  • Ability to work in-office at least 3 days a week at one of our participating office locations
  • Must be able to work full-time during Summer 2026
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S.

Additional Opportunity Details:
Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $26/hr.
* Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role and comparison to other employees already in this role
