Human Resources Specialist

Job Summary:

This role is responsible for fostering a positive work environment by providing guidance on employee relations matters, conducting investigations, and supporting conflict resolution. The position requires routinely travel to plant operations to perform the work. Assists local management and administrators in making sure that plant level activities are in compliance with company policies and all state and federal employment laws and regulations e.g., EEO, FLSA, Affirmative Action, I9Everify, ADA, FMLA etc. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and a passion for promoting fairness and consistency across the organization.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee relations issues, providing guidance and support to employees and managers.

  • Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into employee complaints, including harassment, discrimination, and policy violations.

  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners and Legal as needed to ensure compliance with company policies and employment laws.

  • Recommend and implement appropriate actions based on investigation findings.

  • Support performance management processes, including coaching, disciplinary actions, and terminations.

  • Analyze employee relations trends and metrics to identify areas for improvement through conducting employee opinion surveys, vulnerability audits and open-door meetings.

  • Assist in the development and delivery of training programs related to workplace conduct, conflict resolution, policy awareness and compliance.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of employee relations cases.

  • Prepares various reports and performs other duties as assigned.

  • Travels to plants on a regular basis

  • Assists in the initial employee enrollment meetings and assimilation processes associated with corporate acquisitions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or high school diploma with minimum of 4 years of equivalent experience

  • Minimum 4 years of work experience in human resources or office management related position

  • Ability to read and speak Spanish is preferred, but not required

  • Working knowledge of employment, benefit, and compensation related state and federal regulations

  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint

  • Working knowledge of HRIS, payroll and time and attendance related database software systems

  • Experience with UFP organization and culture strongly preferred

  • Ability to successfully interact and develop relationships at all levels of the organization

  • High level of organizational and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Discretion handling confidential information
