Construction Coordinator


Department: Department of Transportation - Transportation Services Division


Full-time, Hourly


Hourly Range: $25.04 - $39.24 /hr



Closing Date: 9/18/2025 or sooner upon receiving 50 applications.



Job Summary


Under general supervision, this position will coordinate and provide construction management support for Milwaukee County Department of Transportation, Transportation Services Division's construction projects and perform such other duties as assigned.


Job Responsibilities



  • Construction management - Provide construction management support for Transportation Services Division construction projects for traffic engineering, highway engineering, and bridge engineering sections.
  • PS & E preparation - Assist with developing plans, specifications, and cost estimates (PS & E) for the construction, alteration, as well as maintenance of transportation facilities.
  • Preparation of supporting documentation - Review, modify, and prepare required reports, exhibits, and documents for various transportation projects.
  • CTH system pavement management - Assist in updating and maintaining Transportation Services Pavement Management System for the CTH system.
  • Constructability Reviews - Provide constructability and quality control reviews for plans, specifications, and cost estimates for traffic engineering, highway engineering, and bridge engineering sections.
  • Permit Administration - Provide support and assistance in issuing, inspecting, and maintaining various permits for the CTH system.
  • Utility Coordination - Provide support and assistance coordinating utility relocations for traffic engineering, highway engineering, and bridge engineering sections.
  • Use of Equipment, Tools and Machinery - Operate fleet vehicles and specialized transportation related equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Required Education, License/Certification and Experiences



  • Current residency within the State of Wisconsin upon application required
  • Valid WI Driver's License required and must be maintained throughout incumbency
  • Associate's degree or higher in a closely related field required.
  • At least two (2) years or more work experience in the Highway Construction Inspection or similar industry required.
  • Basic knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets required.
  • Basic knowledge of Bluebeam Revu, ASHTOWare, and Appia Systems required.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 75lbs.



Note: This Original Examination is open to current residents of the State of Wisconsin. The selection process will be job related and will consist of one or more of the following: education and experience evaluation; written, oral, or performance tests, or other assessment methods.
