Job Description Summary:

This position requires an environmental test technician to support a wide variety of environmental testing in a dynamic laboratory. Candidate will require expert knowledge to assist and operate, maintain, and troubleshooting facility equipment. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating and implementing technical documentation (calibration, preventive maintenance, drawings, and procedures). The candidate will be responsible for picking up and delivering test equipment, data, office supplies, and custodial supplies as needed. The ability to work and succeed within a process-oriented setting is critical, as is the ability to thoroughly document and communicate one's work. Candidate will primarily support environmental test work in Cambridge, MA but may occasionally be required to support testing in Beford, MA. Occasional support on evenings and weekends will be needed.
The Senior Tech (Elec) are responsible for completing various assembly processes according to a detailed set of process instructions. Assisting engineers in applying engineering technology to develop and test product assemblies or components. Devises, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies with supervision. Sets up and tests complete prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions. Strict adherence to process instructions and documentation requirements is expected.Works closely with a team of engineers and skilled operators. Works under the limited supervision of senior technical personnel.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

* Performs skilled assembly work; build, assemble, modify and/or repair prototypes.
* Provides support to engineers on technical projects and/or product; collect, maintain, organize, compile, and manipulate technical data per guidelines.
* Prepares engineering documentation, reports, and drawings (sketches/flow charts/diagrams/schematics, etc.).
* Performs mathematical calculations per engineering specifications.
* Recommend alternative solutions to problems and obstacles.
* May set up and conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering analysis.
* With adequate training, may operate, clean, maintain, and/or calibrate assembly equipment requiring highly skilled and specialized knowledge.
* Documents work consistent with work unit policy in handwritten form or using common computer-based software
* May mentor or train more junior technicians.
* May perform other duties as assigned specific to a particular engineering area.

Skills/Abilities
* Knowledge of clean room practices and protocols.
* Knowledge of small scale production environment.
* Proficiency with MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook.

Education
As of July 2014 requires successful completion of at least four college credit technical courses.

Including one course in both math and physics, and two engineering elective in the area of engineering they currently work in i.e. Chemical, Electrical, or Elec/Mech.

Experience
At least five years of applicable experience is required.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is

$49.68 - $49.68
