What to Expect
The R&D Fabrication is a member of the Test Facilities & Equipment Engineering Team within the Engineering Test Organization. This team member will be fabricating parts in support of the development, implementation, and application of Tesla internal test and validation plans and methods for various automotive systems and components. The ideal candidate has a proven record of success in the fabrication of parts and fixtures or other structural members in an engineering/manufacturing environment. He/she must have a broad technical background with the ability to work with engineering, manufacturing and quality personnel across a wide variety of tasks. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are a requirement to establish effective working relationships within Tesla. The successful candidate for this position takes pride in their abilities, organization skills, and attention to detail. What You'll Do
What You'll Bring
- 2-year technical degree preferred (i.e. Automotive Technology-Wyotech) or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience working in an engineering/manufacturing and prototype environment
- 2-3 years experience with laser or water jet operation
- Experience with water jet programming software
- Experience and demonstrated success with fabrication, fitting and welding of precision work pieces and assemblies with tight tolerances
- MIG and TIG welding experience (including structural steel (>1" thick), sheet metal (steel), aluminum profile (aluminum plate)
- Experience with manual machining practices (lateh and vertical mill)
- Experience and demonstrated success in the use and maintenance of shop equipment and tooling (i.e. drill press, band saw, shear, break, grinders, sanders, plasma cutter, etc.)
- Remain engaged, proactive and positive in tough circumstances, owning assignments and taking full accountability for their success
- Work with attention to detail while maintaining a clean and organized workspace

Expected Compensation
$22.56 - $48.00/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
