Daikin Applied is now hiring for a Development Engineering Intern in Plymouth, MN!

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Development Engineering Intern to join our dynamic Heat Exchangers Engineering team. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in the field of engineering within a leading organization. Location: Plymouth, MN in office 5 days per week

Timeline: This Internship opportunity is for May-August 2026

What you will do:



  • Work closely with an assigned engineer to:


    • Apply thermal science theory and principles to HVAC data analysis and modeling
    • Learn and contribute to Daikin heat exchanger performance modeling and prediction


  • Learn basics of HVAC industry heat exchanger and chiller design, operation, and modeling
  • Interact with and get exposure to a range of Daikin engineering personnel, including test technicians and laboratory personnel, engineers, project managers, and engineering management.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Junior currently enrolled in an accredited degree program in Mechanical Engineering or related
  • Successfully completed Thermodynamics I
  • Completion of Heat Transfer and Fluid Dynamics by Spring 2026
  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • Experience in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Exposure to HVAC systems
  • Experience with experimental methods, data analysis and uncertainty analysis
  • Reside within a 300-mile radius of the Plymouth, MN office


The typical hourly pay rate for this position is $24/hr - $27/hr. This represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
