This team focuses on shaping the user experience through strategic, systems-level content design that supports immersive VR and mixed reality environments in Horizon Worlds and related Horizon products. The team works on core content design challenges such as onboarding narratives, personal spaces, social interactions, and discovery experiences that help users navigate and engage with the metaverse. The team helps define the narrative and voice of Horizon experiences, ensuring content is clear, accessible, and aligned with product goals. About the Role As a Content Designer on the Horizon Experiences Content Design Team, you will play a critical role in shaping the user experience social VR app, Horizon Worlds, and the broader metaverse vision. You will work on foundational content systems that help users navigate, engage, and connect in immersive virtual environments. You will collaborate closely with product designers, game designers, engineers, environment artists, sound designers, and other cross-functional partners to craft clear, compelling, and user-centered content that supports Horizon's growth and product-market fit. This role will be supporting the Avatars Pillar where they are focused on enabling users to express themselves with a new digital identity that enhances their interactions on the platform. The Instagram Avatars pillar is dedicated to creating a new digital identity experience that empowers users, especially teens and creators, to express themselves in fun, personalized, and socially meaningful ways. It plays a critical role in Meta's metaverse strategy by bridging Instagram's 2D social platform with immersive avatar experiences, driving adoption, and building foundational avatar technology and content. Responsibilities - Develop and iterate on content for onboarding flows, personal spaces, social interactions, notifications, and other key user experiences in Horizon Worlds. - Use systems thinking to create scalable, consistent content frameworks and terminology that align with product strategy. - Collaborate cross-org with stakeholders to operationalize content processes and ensure alignment on messaging and voice. - Translate complex VR/AR concepts into simple, accessible language that enhances user understanding and engagement. - Contribute to product vision and strategy by providing content expertise and advocating for user needs. - Support the creation of positive, safe, and inclusive social experiences through thoughtful content design. - Participate in rapid iteration cycles in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with bi-weekly shipping cadence. - Help build and maintain content standards, style guides, and quality benchmarks for Horizon Experiences. - Engage in user research and data analysis to inform content decisions and measure impact. Qualifications Experience with systems-level content design and foundational content work. Interest and/or experience in emerging technologies such as VR, AR, and AI. Proven ability to work in ambiguous, fast-moving product spaces with evolving strategies. Strong collaboration skills and experience working cross-functionally with diverse teams. Experience working on new-to-market or 01 products is highly valued. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on clarity, simplicity, and user empathy. Ability to think strategically about product narratives and user journeys. Comfortable with rapid iteration and data-informed content decisions. *Experience Level* Intermediate Level *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr.
