Covia, located in Guion, AR has an immediate opening for a Mine Supervisor.

The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:



  • Set high standards for workplace safety. Understand and enforce MSHA regulations and Covia's Corporate Safety & Health policies and procedures ensuring employees are properly trained and equipped to perform jobs in the safest manner. Enforce high standards for plant housekeeping.
  • Perform a daily Safety Share meeting with the Mine crew to reinforce safe working standards.
  • Responsible for the direction of mine related production activities, to include Drilling, Blasting, Scaling and Hauling.
  • Manage tailings disposal in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of explosives and blasting agents used and/or stored.
  • Adhere to Mine Plans as prescribed by Corporate Mine Planning.
  • Assist with supervision in other areas of the mine as needed, such as Crushing, Wet Process, Dry Process, Tailings and Loadout.
  • Regularly participate in required meetings, as prescribed by the Covia Operations Management System (COMS).
  • Collect, check, analyze and discuss and/or forward necessary data for required reports. Prepare operating reports as required.
  • Review, approve and recommend actions regarding staffing, development and training of operating personnel to the Plant Manager.
  • Monitor the mine operation to ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and reporting.
  • Monitor reclamation progress and manage work performed by employees, contractors and vendors. Review, approve, and recommend actions regarding reclamation plans, including the collection of necessary quotes. Ensure all work is being done per the reclamation plans.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.



The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:



  • 3-5 years of mining experience preferred, 1-2 years required
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and computer programs
  • Be able to pass ATF background check to acquire Responsible Person status on the sites Explosives License
