The opportunity

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a student employee to fill the role of Community Engagement Coordinator for our partner organization Nashua Center in Nashua, NH. This role is designed for a student in the SNHU Federal Work-Study program who is interested in gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, outreach, and community engagement. The Community Engagement Coordinator helps Nashua Center build connections with local businesses, churches, nonprofits, and civic groups. These connections create opportunities for adult clients to volunteer, participate in community activities, or explore part-time work options. The role also assists with coordinating corporate volunteer groups that support Nashua Center, and works closely with the Activity Coordinator when planning or promoting community-led classes, workshops, or donated services.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reach out to community organizations (businesses, religious groups, nonprofits) to share information about Nashua Center.
  • Identify opportunities for clients to volunteer or explore part-time work.
  • Assist with planning and scheduling community activities for clients.
  • Help organize corporate volunteer groups in partnership with the Development Director.
  • Collaborate with the Activity Coordinator to support activities led by community volunteers or organizations (e.g., fitness, mindfulness, art, or cooking classes).
  • Keep track of volunteer schedules, client service hours, and activity logs using Excel.
  • Provide updates to program staff and managers about upcoming activities and opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in classes as part of a SNHU degree program
  • Work study part of financial aid package
  • Students with work study may be prioritized
  • Reliable transportation
  • Strong communication skills; comfortable talking with people by phone, email, or in person.
  • Organized and reliable; able to keep track of schedules and details.
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, email, social media).
  • Interest in learning more about nonprofits, community outreach, and supporting individuals with disabilities.

Work Schedule:

  • Hybrid: combination of on-site and remote work.
  • Occasional evening/weekend event support may be needed, with advance notice.

We believe real innovation comes from inclusion - where different experiences, perspectives and talents are celebrated. So if you're wondering whether SNHU is right for you, take the leap and apply. You might be just the person we're looking for.
