The opportunity

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a student employee to fill the role of Activity Coordinator at our partner organization Nashua Center in Nashua, NH.

The Activity Coordinator helps design and lead fun, meaningful activities for Nashua Center's adult clients. Activities may include arts and crafts, cooking, fitness, mindfulness, seasonal/holiday projects, and social skills groups. Examples include chair yoga, Zumba, meditation, "beauty hour," or multi-week themed projects.

This role is perfect for a student in the SNHU Federal Work-Study program who enjoys teaching, organizing, and engaging with others. The Activity Coordinator will plan activities, prepare and maintain the classroom space, order supplies, and keep outcome data for program goals. Activities may range from single-day projects to ongoing multi-week sessions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead activities such as arts and crafts, cooking, social skills, fitness, mindfulness, and seasonal/holiday projects.
  • Work with DSPs to support clients during activities.
  • Survey clients to identify interests and incorporate their individual goals into activities.
  • Coordinate logistics: order and organize supplies, prepare class space, clean up, and maintain classroom areas.
  • Lead multiple activities per day, as scheduled.
  • Track attendance, participation, and outcomes (including goals met vs. in progress).
  • Remain engaged with clients during all activities, ensuring inclusivity and support.
  • Collaborate with the Community Engagement Coordinator when outside instructors, volunteers, or organizations provide classes or donate services.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in classes as part of a SNHU degree program
  • Work study part of financial aid package
  • Students with work study may be prioritized
  • Reliable transportation
  • Comfortable leading activities or small groups (teaching, coaching, tutoring, or camp experience a plus).
  • Creative, enthusiastic, and open to trying different activity ideas.
  • Organized and reliable; able to manage supplies, schedules, and classroom space.
  • Basic computer skills for logging data and tracking outcomes.
  • Interest in fitness, mindfulness, teaching, recreation, or human services.

Work Schedule:


  • Primarily on-site at Nashua Center.

  • May involve leading more than one activity per day; prep and cleanup included.
  • Activities may be one-time, seasonal, or multi-week projects.

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
