Position Overview

The Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) Specialist will be responsible for supporting the execution of health economic and outcomes research under the supervision of the team lead, including data analysis and coordination with external collaborators and vendors as needed. This position will contribute to health economic and outcomes research projects and studies focusing on value, positioning, and unmet needs of Exact Sciences products to support best possible market access. The HEOR Specialist will be responsible for assisting with project activities such as protocol development, data analysis, literature review, and preparation of deliverables including publications, presentations, and reports.

The HEOR Specialist will support HEOR studies in alignment with Access Strategy, Marketing, Market Research and Analytics, Pricing, Market Access Managers, Sales, and Medical Affairs and Development strategies. This role is focused on tactical execution responsibilities with mentorship and oversight. The incumbent will primarily collaborate internally, with opportunities to gain exposure to external collaborations and conferences as experience develops.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop and apply scientific understanding of health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) to meet the scientific evidence needs of evidence-driven population-based healthcare decision makers, e.g., national and regional health plans, integrated health systems, long term care payers, government payers, and key researchers and US healthcare policy makers.
  • Assist in monitoring trends in the US healthcare system and gain familiarity with data sources and payer claims relevant to HEOR activities.
  • Collaborate with field-based HEOR colleagues to support evidence needs of US healthcare decision makers, including managed care organizations, pharmacy benefit managers, academic institutions, and national/international HEOR opinion leaders.
  • Assist in the design and execution of HEOR studies including evidence synthesis (systematic literature reviews and meta-analyses), real world evidence (RWE) studies, and pharmacoeconomic models.
  • Contribute to the development of research protocols, analysis plans, and preparation of reports, abstracts, and manuscripts.
  • Support the team lead in developing HEOR strategies and evidence generation plans aligned with business needs.
  • Learn and apply research design, analytic techniques, and reporting methods with guidance from senior team members.
  • Stay current with HEOR developments and share learnings within the team.
  • Support liaison activities with internal partners under direction of senior staff.
  • Assist in coordinating collaborations with external researchers and academic consultants.
  • Support collection and synthesis of customer insights and contribute to internal planning processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues and contribute to project execution and team discussions.
  • Contribute to publication development in collaboration with medical and communications colleagues.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies/procedures in all activities.
  • Complete all required training, applying learning in day-to-day activities. Collaborate effectively with internal Compliance, Legal, Quality Assurance, and other colleagues to understand and ensure adherence to relevant policies and standards.

  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of working time away from work location; may include occasional overnight travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Health Economics, Outcomes Research, or a related discipline; or Master's Degree with 3 years of relevant experience in lieu of Ph.D.
  • Strong proficiency in statistical programming languages (i.e., SAS, R, SQL) and possess experience conducting data analysis using large healthcare or administrative databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Health Economics and Outcomes Research or related discipline.

Salary Range:

$98,000.00 - $167,000.00

The annual base salary shown is a national range for this position on a full-time basis and may differ by hiring location. In addition, this position is bonus eligible.
