This part-time non benefited position works 6 hours weekly. Candidates must be reliable, detail oriented and physically able to access shelves and push book carts. The library page is primarily responsible for accurately and efficiently shelving library materials and assisting with various circulation department duties. This position plays a key role in maintaining the organization and accessibility of the library's collections while providing friendly, customer-focused service. This position is part of a dynamic team serving the library's three locations: two physical locations at Prosser Library and McMahon Wintonbury Library, and BPL Online, the library's electronic presence.
Job Environment: Performs work in typical public library conditions which may be moderately quiet to noisy. Serves library patrons with customer service excellence. Operates telephones, computers, copiers, and other standard office equipment. Makes frequent contact with the general public and library staff. Communicates in person, by telephone, e-mail, or in writing using excellent customer service skills.

- Accurately shelves and shifts library materials to maintain proper order and spacing, using alphabetical order and the Dewey Decimal classification system.
- Assists with maintenance of order in the library, and ensures shelves are neat, organized, and accessible to patrons.
- Monitors library materials for damage or misplaced items and report issues as needed.
- Provides general information and customer service to the public in a friendly, patient, and courteous manner, and refers to appropriate staff member, if needed.
- Retrieves materials from shelves as requested.
- Provides support for library services and programs, and performs related duties as assigned.
- Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through modeling inclusive behaviors.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be fourteen (14) years or older. Must be able to arrange materials in alphabetical and numerical order. Must be available to work afternoons, early evenings and some Saturday hours.

Selection Process

A written examination will be used to determine abilities to put materials in alphabetical and numerical order, and a personal interview will be conducted.
