Basic Job Functions:



  • Complete the day-to-day reliability operations and test in Reliability Lab in a safe manner to ensure that the product meets performance and warranty commitments without failure under ambient outdoor exposure extremes. Support Reliability Engineers with multi-task assignments related to second-source supplier qualifications, product reliability monitoring, product/process qualification programs and test/equipment development.


Education/Experience:



  • Associate's degree or equivalent in a technical discipline OR a High School Diploma with a minimum of 3 years' experience working in a manufacturing or lab environment.
  • High School Diploma with a minimum of 1 year of experience working in a First Solar lab environment as a contractor.
  • Calibration, measurement, inspection and test experience desired.


Required Skills/Competencies:



  • Demonstrated ability to safely use hand tools and operate test equipment.
  • Willingness and ability to learn the basic operation of test simulators.
  • Certified or capable of safely operating a forklift.
  • Ability to operate overhead and manual lift apparatuses.
  • Ability to handling large sheets of glass with care and precision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Capable of identifying and resolving issues during test or equipment malfunctions.
  • Ability to interpret test data to verify proper test execution.
  • Proficient in selecting and executing appropriate test recipes across multiple tools.
  • Ability to locate and test modules per Performance Reliability Monitoring (PRM) plan and determine required measurements and subsequent testing steps.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
  • Basic experience with electrical test and measurement tools is desired.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; SQL experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively as a team player with a consistently positive and solution-oriented attitude.
  • Familiarity with tools such as micrometers, multimeters, power supplies, and data loggers is advantageous.
  • Ensures PRM racks remain in their designated locations within the lab and designated external warehouse staging areas.


Essential Responsibilities:



  • Safely load, unload, and operate all standard Reliability Stress Test equipment according to test instructions.
  • Perform accurate baseline and post-test measurements for all Reliability tests.
  • Complete all tests and measurements on time and to the PRM plan to support timely reporting.
  • Efficiently scan all test modules as they enter and exit the lab and all tests in a timely manner.
  • Enter test data adequately and accurately into designated systems.
  • Immediately report any abnormal product or equipment findings.
  • Available to work 12-hour shifts on weekdays and weekends following a Pitman Schedule (3-2-2-3).
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Successfully complete all tasks assigned by the Reliability Engineer or Lab Supervisor.
  • Train new technicians on testing procedures, measurement protocols, and safe use of overhead and manual lifts.
  • Quickly identify test execution errors and take corrective action as needed.

Reporting Relationships:



  • This position reports to Supervisor- Reliability Lab Operations.


Travel:



  • 0% - 5% (On occasion/as needed for training, etc.)


Estimated Salary Range:



  • $18.89-$26.44 Hourly.


US Physical Requirements:



  • Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift.
  • Will climb stairs and cross gangways on a regular basis.
  • Will lift, push or pull up to 27 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Required to use both hands to grasp, lift, handle, and carry objects on a frequent basis.
  • 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards).
