Primary Function

Provide administrative leadership in the area of spiritual development for program engagement initiatives and all Lipscomb mission teams that are mobilized to serve alongside our global ministry host partners. The person in this position plays a unique role in leading students into powerful experiences of spiritual formation and global service during their most spiritually formative years.

Education

Masters degree required. Masters degree in Ministry or Theology preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who have additional degrees in English, Rhetoric, or Writing.

Experience

5 to 7 years in related field

Qualifications



  • Outstanding English language written and verbal skills, including demonstration of strong ability in creative writing, professional writing, and public speaking
  • Short-term missions experience required
  • Full-time missions experience preferred
  • Professional experience in higher education and supervising college students preferred
  • Experience with crisis management preferred
  • Professional experience teaching at the college level preferred


Description of Tasks Performed

Spiritual Development



  • Assist Director of Lipscomb Missions to develop team leader training material in the areas of cultural engagement and spiritual development
  • Develop mission trip reflection materials and guides for student participants
  • Work directly with team leaders for spiritual development strategies for teams
  • Work closely on ministry collaborations with on-campus entities such as campus ministry, the SALT office, and student affairs


External Engagement (Missions and College of Bible and Ministry)



  • Work with program coordinator to develop, create, and review content for digital and print publications for Missions and the College of Bible and Ministry, including newsletters, articles, and devotional guides
  • Assist Director of Lipscomb Missions to develop local church partnerships and continued engagement in church relations and missions outreach


Leadership Team

As part of the Lipscomb Missions leadership team, this position will



  • Assist the Director in strategic planning efforts and overall program development
  • Assess and approve new trip and host partnerships
  • Communicate and cultivate relationships with host partner organizations in mission location
  • Engage consistently with team leaders, students, alumni, faculty/staff, administration, parents of students, donors and friends from the Lipscomb community
  • Be on rotation for the incident management team (IMT) while teams are on the field
  • Engage in travel to domestic and international locations for site assessment with existing and potential partnerships
  • Participate on a Lipscomb mission team as a team leader or missions staff liaison


    General Responsibilities



    • Average of 40 hours per week in office
    • Assist with and attend Missions-related events and campaigns, with an understanding that some events may occur on the weekend or outside regular office hours
    • Work closely with various on-campus entities that interact with Missions
    • Perform other duties as assigned
