This is an academic position in the practice and teaching of Speech Language pathology.

Examples of Duties
-
I. Service/ Clinical 75% A. Deliver Speech/Language and Listening & Spoken Language Therapy services to individuals of all ages who have hearing loss and /or speech language disorders / delays. B. Responsible for performing patient initial evaluations, plans / implements treatment programs for speech language and swallow rehabilitation, monitoring patient's progress towards treatment goals. C. Define patient's degree and type of speech, language, and voice impairment by electing and administering the most appropriate test instruments D. Improve the function of patients with speech language impairments by planning treatment. E. Evaluates and documents the results of administered tests and appointments in a written report or chart note. F. Coordinates speech and language results with other diagnostic data, such as educational, medical, social, and behavioral information. G. Provides for and promotes the comfort and safety of patients receiving speech and hearing services. H. Collaborate with physicians for care of individuals with voice disorders and head/neck cancer. I. Assist as needed in providing clinical supervision of students in practicum placements. J. Participates in the daily maintenance of the clinic area in order to ensure comfort of patients and colleagues. 0. Organizes and maintains administrative and patient files as necessary. Stocks rooms with necessary equipment and supplies. K. Answers patient phone calls. Provides excellent service to both internal and external customers through collaboration and partnership; compassion and respect; integrity and accountability; diversity and inclusion; as well as continuous learning and improvement. L. Completes CPT and ICD- 10 coding of charge tickets for SLP services.
II. Administrative 10% A. Works with other Audiology faculty regarding a variety of primary administrative duties. These include but are not limited to: 1. Clinic Policy and Procedures 2. HIPPA Compliance 3. Insurance Provider Compliance (i.e. Medicare/Medicaid) 4. Infection Control 5. Coding, billing, and reimbursement procedures 6. Marketing 7. Website development and Maintenance 8. New equipment procurement 9. Continuing education 10. General advancement of clinical services within the School of Medicine and the Community B. Maintains working relationship with administrative professionals with regards to billing, reimbursement, coding, marketing, financial budgeting and professional development. C. Participates in Quality Assurance Program. D. Coordinates all work with other professionals including receptionists, secretaries, and other audiology personnel. E. Completes assignments as requested by Department of Otolaryngology and other faculty. F. Helps coordinate daily office duties in conjunction with Audiology Administrative Assistant. G. Collaborates in the development and advancement of new hearing and speech clinical services and clinical research.
III. Teaching 10% A. Supervises and provides didactic instruction for AuD. interns. B. Delivers educational presentations to students, residents, and faculty. C. Collaborates in the education of students, residents and faculty on various assessment tools and types and utilization of intervention programs available for communication disorders. D. Acts as a role model in the teaching of listening and spoken language and related techniques
IV. Research 5% A. Promotes clinical research and scholarly activity in the clinical audiology domain. B. Participates in clinical research activities with physicians, students and audiologists upon approval of the clinical audiology faculty and the Professor and Chairman, Department of Otolaryngolog

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: * Master's Degree in Communication Disorders/Speech and Language Pathology from an accredited program * Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competency/ASHA certification * Illinois License * Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations
Desirable Qualifications: * Certification as Auditory-Verbal Therapist/Listening & Spoken Language Specialist preferred * Experience working with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing * Experience with sign language or willingness or learn
