Temple University's Strategic Communications and Marketing Department is searching for a Social Media Coordinator!

Salary Range: $45,000 - $50,000
A variety of important factors are reviewed by HR when considering salary, including job duties, the applicant's education and experience, all relevant internal equity considerations, department budget, and funding source.

Position Summary
The Social Media Coordinator supports the growth of Temple University's social media presence and engagement through vertical video content creation. With an emphasis on TikTok and YouTube Shorts, the specialist will assist the social media team with creating engaging content for key audiences of prospective and current students, parents, alumni, and faculty/staff in support of the University's strategic priorities and goals of increasing enrollment, retaining current students, engaging alumni and elevating the Temple University brand and reputation.

The coordinator will support the University's social media channels by extending its reach and amplification of brand content across vertical video platforms. S/he/they will create content that pairs brand voice, tone, and values with trends, campaign strategy, and analytics to make informed strategic decisions. The coordinator will have an in-depth understanding of how to create, edit, and manage content on vertical video platforms, with a strong emphasis on TikTok and YouTube Shorts.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related function.
* At least one (1) year of directly related, professional experience.
* An equivalent combination of education, internship and/or student worker experience may be considered.

Preferred Experience
* Working experience in social media management in a business setting.

Required Skills and Abilities
* Skilled in social media vertical video creation and production.
* Knowledge of social media management tools, such as Sprout, and proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products.
* Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy of work.
* Superior organizational skills - must be able to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines.
* Ability to quickly adapt to different environments and open to new processes and technologies.

Essential Functions
* Leads content creation for Temple University's TikTok and YouTube Shorts accounts, which includes:
- Planning: Ideate and conceptualize content
- Production: Film and edit content
- Publish: Write copy
- Engage: Manage post and engage with our audience
- Analysis: Analyze metrics to optimize future content
* Executes content creation across other vertical video platforms, including Instagram Reels,
Facebook Reels, and paid social media channels.
* Partners with social media team's leadership to establish brand guidelines for TikTok's and YouTube's tone of voice, content, and cadence.
* Supervises two part-time student workers, including managing workflow, providing guidance and support, identifying development needs, and issuing feedback.
* Tracks and analyzes project, campaign and post efficacy to ensure that goals are met and that social media initiatives are linked to desired outcomes. Draws actionable insight from this data.
* Researches and monitors industry and competitor brand activity, trends, key platform/algorithm changes, influencers, and identify emerging trends.
* Works cross-functionally and ensures collaboration across teams in the Strategic Marketing and Communications department and University-wide campus partners - working closely with content, communications, advertising, multimedia, and visual strategy to brainstorm and develop content and campaigns.

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
