Your tasks
- The Junior Die-Casting Process Engineer will be responsible for overseeing, improving and managing all relevant processes in regard to the assigned machine group. Additionally, especially during the installation of the machinery, this role involves setting up and commissioning the machines. This role ensures that production runs efficiently, safely, and in compliance with quality standards while optimizing processes to meet business objectives.
- Setting up and commissioning of the assigned die-casting machines during the ramp-up phase.
- Operating and monitoring the die-casting machine
- Create and archive setting cards
- Responsible for performance, OEE, and quality of his machine group
- Sampling of new molds (possibly also externally), including customer support
- Responsible for SOS/Symbios/CIP in his machine group
- Ensure necessary equipment for the group
- Detailed planning of machine downtimes and their duration (e.g., setup, cleaning, maintenance, etc.)
- Scrap control of final-inspected raw cast parts
- Interpretation of measurement reports / determination of casting parameters
- Initiate mold repair, maintenance, and modifications / conduct trials
- Quality control and assurance
- Support internal foundry projects and carry out special tasks (projects)
- Participate in required audits
- Support the sampling process in coordination with Quality and Project Management
- Attend morning meetings and implement agreed-upon actions
- Implement improvement suggestions
- Plan and coordinate urgently needed repairs/maintenance with maintenance department
- Ensure compliance with internal and external quality regulations
- Interpretation of measurement reports / determination of casting and process parameters
- Assist in the introduction of new processes, technologies, products, and equipment
- Close collaboration with the entire production team and interface departments such as Engineering, Tooling, Maintenance, and Quality Management
- All other duties as assigned
Your profile
- First experience in process optimization within the die-casting industry
- Strong problem-solving skills, assertiveness, implementation strength, high willingness to continue education, basic IT knowledge, strong hands-on mentality
- Technical school diploma or first experience in the technical field (foundry mechanic, electrician, mechanic preferred)
- Relevant knowledge in die casting, hydraulics, pneumatics, automation (ABB), basic programming skills for Siemens control systems, experience with linked systems
- Working conditions: This role is based in the USA at a new manufacturing facility, which may involve a mix of office and production floor work.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in a dynamic environment that may require walking, standing, and moving within production and logistics areas.
