Summary of Job Duties:The Assistant Director for Student Success and Leadership Development supports the mission of the Student Experience Center by designing, coordinating, and assessing student leadership initiatives that foster student growth, engagement, and success. This position plays a pivotal role in developing and implementing co-curricular leadership programs, advising student organizations, and creating leadership pathways aligned with UA Little Rock's student development goals. This is a contingent, grant-funded position and is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree;

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, University Work systems such as Workday, and/or similarly related software;

  • Strong organizational, facilitation, and communication skills.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in student development, leadership programming, or campus life;

  • Master's Degree.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leadership Program Development (20%)

  • Design and implement leadership development programs, including workshops, retreats, speaker series, and leadership certificate tracks, for undergraduate and graduate students.

  • Student Organization Advising (10%)

  • Advise select student organizations and student leaders, providing support with planning, goal setting, conflict resolution, and leadership skill-building.

  • Campus Collaboration (15%)

  • Partner with departments, Student Government, Academic Colleges, Registered Student Organizations, and within the Division of Student Affairs to integrate leadership development across campus initiatives.

  • Event Planning and Facilitation (10%)

  • Coordinate logistics and facilitation for key leadership events, including student leader training and recognition ceremonies.

  • Assessment & Evaluation (10%)

  • Develop assessment tools and use data to evaluate program outcomes, identify areas for improvement, and prepare reports to measure impact.

  • Recruitment and Outreach (10%)

  • Promote leadership opportunities through outreach, social media, and presentations; actively engage students from diverse backgrounds.

  • Supervision and Mentorship (15%)

  • May supervise student workers, interns, or graduate assistants who support leadership development programming.

  • Budget Management (5%)

  • Assist with managing program budgets and ensure compliance with university policies and procedures.

  • Institution Service (5%)

  • Serve as a resource and on university committees as assigned;

  • Assist the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs as needed;

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of computers and software applications;

  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices;

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;

  • Ability to analyze financial records and prepare reports;

  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of others;

  • Ability to research related work program information;

  • Ability to self-initiate project tasks after accepting an assignment under general supervision is essential;

  • Have a positive and inviting attitude when working with others;

  • Experience working with diverse student populations in a college/university setting;

  • Knowledge of leadership theory and student development models (e.g., Social Change Model, Emotionally Intelligent Leadership).
